Have you ever dreamt of spending time in the Caribbean relaxing on white sands, sipping your favorite cocktail while drinking in 360° views of turquoise waters, enjoying warm gentle trade wind breezes and experiencing all the fun island life in the sun can offer? If you answer “yes”, Evergreen residents Pam and Kurt Jakobson want you to know that your dream can become reality at Villa Tropidero in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Pam and Kurt Jakobson of Evergreen Tile met on the islands years ago. She was a property manager and Kurt owned a construction company contracted to do maintenance on her properties. They fell in love, married and eventually bought a piece of island property. Soon after the couple moved to Sweden (Kurt’s birthplace), but returned two years later to build Villa Tropidero. Their vision was not only to construct a home they could enjoy, but also one that would allow them to share the beauty of the islands with others as a vacation destination. “We did the work ourselves,” stated Pam Jakobson. “I put 2,000 miles on my truck in 5 months of construction—on a 40-mile island, most of which is uninhabitable.”
Located on a private secluded beach shared with only three other villas, the 4,000 square- foot home has three full second-floor suites with private baths/showers, verandas; a kidney-shaped swimming pool and amenities too numerous to list. The villa can accommodate 6 adults. Children 4 years old and over are also welcome. Satellite television, wireless Internet and mid-week maid services are included in vacation prices. Special accommodations are available at additional costs like: catering for romantic dinners on the beach, pre-stocking the villa refrigerator or bar for your arrival, Cuban cigars and more. Villa Tropidero employs a property manager and full security system (24/7), as well as a gardener and pool maintenance service.
The villa is located on Provo, the most populated of the eight British Overseas Territory islands, with its own international airport, great airline flight resources and major rental car companies. The currency is U.S. dollars. “Like the Cayman Islands were 20 years ago, it’s a favorite get-away spot for Hollywood stars, jetsetters and others.” explained Pam. The islands are 1½ hours from Miami. The trip from the west coast is between 6-12 hours depending on seasons and flight delays.
